
Patrice Desbiens
Since February 2024, Patrice is Directeur Opérations et Maintenance for the Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Laurentides, Chibougamau and Lac-St-Jean regions at Hydro-Québec. As such he is responsible for 5 hydro power plants and 75 transmission substations. He is also responsible for the Gentilly-2 site decommissioning and holds the license with the CNSC.
Between 2013 and 2023, Patrice has held various positions at Hydro-Québec, mainly in Maintenance Strategies and Technical Support to hydro power plants, and also in Technical Support do the distribution grid. He has managed Engineering activities, Occupational Safety, Environmental Protection, Training and Emergency Preparedness.
Before that Patrice spent 18 years at the Gentilly-2 nuclear station. Starting in 1994 as a Reactor Physicist, he moved to various management positions in Reactor Engineering, Safety and Licensing, Nuclear Safety and Technical Services. As the Engineering Manager of the station, Patrice was the Design Authority for the last four year of operation of Gentilly-2, from 2008 to 2012.
