Let’s Talk Energy Week, the first energy awareness week of its kind in Canada, will invite Canadians to explore and discuss how energy is connected to their lives, and the importance of energy systems and their elements to our economic, social and environmental future. The week will be held from February 21 – 28, 2014.

Let’s Talk Energy Week is being introduced in the context of Let’s Talk Energy, an initiative of the Canada Science and Technology Museums Corporation (CSTMC) which aims to increase energy literacy across Canada and engage Canadians in considering our energy future. Through informative exhibitions, virtual material, programs and activities, the CSTMC and its partners across the country aim to improve Canadians’ understanding of energy issues, allowing them to make more informed energy decisions.

Among the many activities that they have planned for Let’s Talk Energy Week is a Speaker Series at the Canada Aviation and Space Museum in Ottawa on Wednesday, February 26, at 10:00 am. As a sponsor of the event, the CNA has been given the opportunity to put forward a speaker to represent the nuclear industry on a panel that includes advocates from oil, gas, and hydro industries.

Additionally, the CNA will supply copies of The Canadian Nuclear Factbook to all 33 of the participating museums and science centres. Finally, the Association will make a handful of Geiger counters available to local area museums for demonstrations on radiation.
