Julie West

Julie West is Senior Vice President, Business Improvements and Compliance at Kinectrics. She joined Kinectrics in 2009 when the company acquired Candesco, where she had worked since 2001. Prior to her current position, Ms. West was Director, Licensing, Decommissioning and Waste Management at Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL). In this role, she was responsible for overseeing the ongoing work on decommissioning and waste management safety and licensing at several CNL facilities, establishing a licensing strategy, and implementing optimized processes to support CNL’s accelerated decommissioning and waste management mission.

Since 2001, Ms. West has led safety and licensing projects for all phases of the project life cycle in support of a range of new and operating facilities including multiple reactor types, tritium processing, hot cells and waste storage. In addition, for four years, she was the Licensing Coordinator at Atomic Energy of Canada Limited (AECL) for the pre-licensing review of the ACR1000 reactor. She has held several licensing and safety analysis positions for Ontario Power Generation and Bruce Power. She also led the safety and licensing team that obtained a Letter of Authorization for a new nuclear facility at Cernavoda, Romania.

Ms. West began her career in 1995 as a Safety Analyst and Commissioning Engineer at AECL in Mississauga. She holds a degree in chemical engineering from the University of New Brunswick and is a licensed professional engineer in the province of Ontario.
