CNA West Brings Canada’s Nuclear Ecosystem to Saskatoon This October

August 12, 2025

Canada’s nuclear landscape is shifting, and Western Canada is at the center of it all. The Canadian Nuclear Association’s newest conference, CNA West, comes to Saskatoon October 20–22, 2025, at a defining moment for nuclear development across the country.

As the first event of its kind in Western Canada, CNA West will unite the entire nuclear ecosystem, from small modular reactors (SMRs) and large-scale nuclear plants to uranium mining, fuel supply, cutting-edge research, and emerging technologies. The conference brings together policymakers, Indigenous leaders, industry experts, and innovators to explore opportunities, tackle challenges, and develop solutions across the complete nuclear value chain.

“Nuclear energy represents a significant part of Canada’s energy future,” says George Christidis, President and CEO of the Canadian Nuclear Association. “The collaboration we’re seeing is bringing together regions, industries, and communities in ways we haven’t seen before.”

The momentum is building across the region. Saskatchewan has identified Estevan as a leading candidate for its first SMR unit, while Alberta explores how nuclear development could enhance industrial operations and grid reliability. Ontario and New Brunswick contribute decades of reactor construction, operation, and refurbishment expertise, alongside advanced reactor research capabilities.

What awaits you at CNA West:

  • Strategic insights into nuclear deployment and project planning across Western Canada
  • Comprehensive perspectives on SMRs, large reactors, uranium mining, and next-generation nuclear technologies
  • Indigenous leadership and community partnership success stories
  • Policy discussions on regulatory frameworks and interprovincial collaboration
  • Unparalleled networking with industry leaders, policymakers, and nuclear innovators

This collaborative approach builds on existing partnerships, including Memoranda of Understanding between Ontario, Saskatchewan, New Brunswick, and Alberta that committed these provinces to work together on SMR technology readiness, regulatory frameworks, workforce development, and community engagement.

Powered by Cameco, CNA West takes place at TCU Place in Saskatoon, positioning you at the heart of Canada’s nuclear renaissance.
