Board of Directors Appoints George Christidis as Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Canadian Nuclear Association
Following the resignation of John Gorman, former President & CEO of the Canadian Nuclear Association, the Board of Directors has requested that George Christidis, Vice-President of Government Relations and International Affairs, act as interim Chief Executive Officer until such a time as the position has been filled permanently. Mr. Christidis formally took over the role of interim CEO on 11 November 2024.
George Christidis, currently seconded to the CNA from Ontario Power Generation, brings over 15 years of experience in dealing with governments at the federal, provincial, and international level. He held multiple senior positions in government prior to transitioning to the private sector where he has worked to provide strategic advice to organizations working in a broad array of sectors including energy and environment.
In his interim role, Mr. Christidis will focus on the existing CNA Strategic Plan 2024-2026 and ensuring that all ongoing initiatives and projects are carried forward.
“It’s a pleasure and an honour to be named as interim Chief Executive Officer,” said Mr Christidis. “I am looking forward to supporting the team and the Board of Directors in our ongoing efforts to show Canada and the world all that our nuclear sector has to offer in terms of economic growth, environmental sustainability, energy security, and life-saving medical isotopes. I’m excited to work with all members of the Association to deliver on this mandate together.”
