INTERNATIONAL ENERGY AGENCY EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR FATIH BIROL ADDRESSES THE CANADIAN NUCLEAR INDUSTRY

OTTAWA (February 26, 2019) – On Wednesday, February 27, the Canadian Nuclear Association (CNA) will welcome Dr. Fatih Birol, Executive Director of the International Energy Agency (IEA), to CNA2019, the industry’s annual Conference and Trade Show in Ottawa.
Dr. Birol will meet with the CNA’s Executive Committee on Wednesday morning at the Westin Hotel.
Later Dr. Birol will deliver a keynote address on “The Future of Nuclear Energy” followed by a panel discussion with thought leaders in the energy sector.
“We are pleased that Dr. Birol and the IEA recognize the important role Canada’s nuclear industry can play in reducing carbon emissions,” said CNA President and CEO John Barrett. “CNA2019 will focus on New Nuclear, including innovations in nuclear technology that make the future of nuclear energy so different from the past. Canadians want reliable and clean energy sources capable of powering past coal, while providing heat and electricity in all types of weather and conditions. New nuclear is answering the call.”
