Canadian Nuclear Association saddened at passing of Kim Elizabeth Rudd
The Canadian Nuclear Association is deeply saddened at the passing of Kim Elizabeth Rudd, former Member of Parliament for Northumberland-Peterborough South. Kim lived a life dedicated to the public good, including in her role as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Natural Resources.
Kim was dedicated as a member of Parliament to supporting Canada’s clean energy transition and was a vocal supporter of the key role of nuclear power in our country achieving its climate goals. Her efforts crossed party lines, as she worked tirelessly with all members of Parliament to bridge differences and find solutions to the pressing issues of our day.
Kim was a champion of nuclear energy in Canada at a time when it was not widely recognized as being a key tool in combatting the climate crisis. Taking this position showed her bravery and commitment to what she believed in. Her leadership enabled others, who may otherwise have stood on the sidelines, to step forward in support of the critical role of nuclear power.
Our thoughts and condolences go out to her family, to whom she was dedicated more than anything. The CNA urges anyone touched by the passing of Kim to make donations to Ovarian Cancer Canada.
