CNA Leadership Participates in Landmark Canada-U.S. Economic Summit
The Interim CEO and President of CNA, George Christidis, joined other prominent business leaders at today’s Canada-U.S. Economic Summit in Toronto, where discussions centered on strengthening Canadian businesses through enhanced pan-Canadian purchasing and trade.
The summit, convened by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, featured strong nuclear industry representation, including Tim Gitzel from Cameco Corporation as a panelist, alongside attendance from Julianne den Decker (AtkinsRéalis), John Gorman (Westinghouse Electric Company), and John MacQuarrie (BWXT Canada).
“The Prime Minister recognizes the important role that the Canadian nuclear industry plays in driving economic growth, jobs and innovation. It’s a strategic asset for Canada to meet its energy security and international relations goals.” said George Christidis, CNA President and CEO.
With daily cross-border trade reaching $3.6 billion, the event highlighted Canada’s strategic position in nuclear technology, building on the country’s established strengths in uranium production, nuclear research, and clean energy innovation. These capabilities align with both nations’ clean energy goals while supporting economic growth across North America.
The Canadian Nuclear Association continues to actively monitor trade developments and engage with government officials to emphasize the nuclear sector’s strategic importance to North American energy security and economic prosperity. As an industry that contributes more than $22 billion to Canada’s GDP annually and employs over 89,000 Canadians, the CNA remains committed to fostering cooperation and collaboration both domestically and internationally, while advocating for policies that support the accelerated deployment of nuclear technologies and projects.
