Vice President, Nuclear Safety & Licensing
Julie West is the Vice President of Nuclear Safety and Licensing at Kinectrics. Julie joined Kinectrics in 2009 when it acquired Candesco, which Julie joined in 2001. Prior to her current appointment, Julie filled the role of Licensing Director, Decommissioning and Waste Management for Canadian Nuclear Laboratories. In this role, Julie was responsible for overseeing the on-going D&WM safety and licensing work across multiple CNL sites while establishing a licensing strategy and implementing optimized processes in support of the accelerated CNL D&WM mission.
Since 2001, Julie has led safety and licensing projects for all phases of the project lifecycle, in support of a range of new and operating facilities including several types of reactors, tritium processing, hot cells and waste storage. In addition, Julie spent four years as a licensing coordinator for Atomic Energy of Canada (AECL) for the ACR-1000 reactor pre-licensing review. She has worked in several licensing and safety analysis roles for Ontario Power Generation and Bruce Power, and led the Safety and Licensing team that obtained a letter of licensability for a new nuclear facility in Cernavoda, Romania.
Julie started her career in 1995 as a safety analyst and commissioning engineer at AECL in Mississauga. She is a graduate of Chemical Engineering from the University of New Brunswick and is a licensed professional engineer in the province of Ontario.
