Gary Christian

Gary Christian is an accomplished executive leader with over three decades of experience in public service and workforce development. As Executive Director of the North Superior Workforce Planning Board (NSWPB), he has championed evidence-based labour market strategies, strengthened stakeholder collaboration, and enhanced organizational performance across Northwestern Ontario.

Before assuming his role at NSWPB in 2022, Gary dedicated 34 years to the Ontario Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development, serving as a Community Development Officer. Throughout his tenure, he was recognized for his leadership in contract and program administration, financial oversight, and the strategic application of community development principles, particularly in support of Indigenous communities, training institutions, and economic development initiatives.

Gary holds a Master of Business Administration, an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Law, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, all from Lakehead University. His extensive knowledge of government operations and labour market dynamics positions him as a respected authority in workforce development at both regional and provincial levels.

In recognition of his contributions to the community, Gary was awarded the City of Thunder Bay’s Citizens of Exceptional Achievement Award in 2021. He is also a recipient of the Canadian Armed Forces Service Medal and continues to support those in need through long-standing volunteer service.
