
Bob Walker
The Canadian Nuclear Workers’ Council has served as the collective voice of Unions across Canada’s nuclear sector since 1993. Bob has served on the CNWC Board since 2001 and for the past six years he’s been at the helm as their National Director.
Bob joined Ontario Hydro in 1990 as a Nuclear Operator and quickly became active with the Power Workers’ Union. Over the years, he served in numerous key roles, including Steward, Joint Health and Safety Committee Member, Chief Steward, Executive Board Member, and ultimately, Sector Vice President. In these capacities, Bob played a significant role in advancing the interests of union members and promoting workplace safety. He also participated in several senior-level committees with major energy companies such as Ontario Power Generation, Bruce Power, and Kinectrics, contributing to the development of policies that benefited Workers and industry.
Past volunteer service includes:
-Canadian Nuclear Association, Board Member for more than a decade and a member of the GHR&CC.
-Ontario Nuclear Advantage Committee, Labour Co-chair.
-Durham Region Labour Council, Board Member.
-Durham Region Local Training Board, Labour Co-chair.
-Canadian Labour Congress: Health, Safety, and Environment Advisory Committee.
-Appointed by the International Labour Organization to the Special Liaison Committee to the International Commission on Radiological Protection.
