In a significant expansion of its industry outreach, the Canadian Nuclear Association (CNA) has announced CNA WEST, a new conference dedicated to nuclear development in Western Canada. Set for October 20-22, 2025, at TCU Place in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, this groundbreaking event marks the first time the organization has established a major conference outside its traditional Ottawa gathering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Under the theme “Foundations for the Future,” CNA WEST recognizes the pivotal role the next five years will play in establishing nuclear energy in Saskatchewan and Alberta. With both provinces actively exploring Small Modular Reactor (SMR) technology, the conference aims to address the essential building blocks needed for successful implementation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Western Canada is poised to play a transformative role in Canada’s nuclear future,” said George Christidis, Interim President and CEO of the Canadian Nuclear Association. “CNA WEST represents our commitment to supporting the unique needs and opportunities of the Prairie provinces as they lay the groundwork for nuclear projects. This conference will bring together the diverse stakeholders needed to build a strong foundation for success.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event will tackle critical challenges facing nuclear expansion in the Prairie provinces, including workforce development, regulatory frameworks, funding mechanisms, and community engagement. Special emphasis will be placed on Indigenous partnerships, recognizing their essential role in resource development. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Unlike the association’s established annual conference in Ottawa, which primarily serves existing industry members, CNA WEST is designed to welcome newcomers to the nuclear sector. Organizers expect participation from potential supply chain companies, community leaders, government officials, regulators, and representatives from both energy and non-energy industries interested in nuclear applications.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
