(ARC\u00a0Canada).<\/p>\n<p>Sawyer fait ici r\u00e9f\u00e9rence \u00e0 la Phase\u00a01 de l\u2019examen r\u00e9alis\u00e9 par la CCSN en octobre\u00a02019. Cet examen a permis de conclure qu\u2019au regard des 19\u00a0domaines d\u2019int\u00e9r\u00eat de la CCSN en mati\u00e8re de s\u00fbret\u00e9, l\u2019approche de conception baptis\u00e9e ARC-100, qui a \u00e9t\u00e9 adopt\u00e9e par l\u2019entreprise, r\u00e9pond aux objectifs des normes d\u2019application de la r\u00e9glementation canadienne. Cela signfie qu\u2019ARC\u00a0Canada est maintenant sur la bonne voie pour d\u00e9velopper sa technologie au Nouveau-Brunswick. Cela pr\u00e9pare aussi le terrain pour un examen de Phase\u00a02, d\u00e9crit par M.\u00a0Sawyer comme un examen plus approfondi de la conception et des plans de la technologie de l\u2019entreprise.<\/p>\n<p><strong>L\u2019ARC-100<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00c0 l\u2019heure actuelle, trois entreprises ont d\u00e9j\u00e0 pass\u00e9 la Phase\u00a01 de l\u2019examen, mais Norman\u00a0Sawyer est un ardent d\u00e9fenseur des avantages de l\u2019ARC-100. \u00ab\u00a0La diff\u00e9rence, c\u2019est que notre conception a fait ses preuves\u00a0\u00bb, affirme-t-il. \u00ab\u00a0Nous disposons de trois d\u00e9cennies de donn\u00e9es qui prouvent que notre technologie est op\u00e9rationnelle.\u00a0\u00bb La conception de l\u2019ARC-100 est bas\u00e9e sur un prototype am\u00e9ricain, l\u2019EBR-II, qui a \u00e9t\u00e9 exploit\u00e9 avec succ\u00e8s pendant 30\u00a0ans.<\/p>\n<p>Les conceptions des petits r\u00e9acteurs modulaires (PRM) varient consid\u00e9rablement. L\u2019un des points forts particuliers du r\u00e9acteur ARC-100 tient \u00e0 sa conception \u00ab\u00a0intrins\u00e8quement s\u00fbre\u00a0\u00bb, toute surchauffe entra\u00eenant une diminution de la puissance de sortie. De plus, il suffit de le recharger une fois tous les 20\u00a0ans. \u00ab\u00a0Moins de 15\u00a0% du combustible doit \u00eatre recharg\u00e9\u00a0\u00bb, explique M.\u00a0Sawyer. \u00ab\u00a0Apr\u00e8s 20\u00a0ans d\u2019exploitation s\u00fbre, fiable, sans \u00e9missions et \u00e0 faible co\u00fbt, nous reconstituons notre stock de combustible, ce qui signifie une diminution importante des d\u00e9chets.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n<p><strong>Une solution en compl\u00e9ment des sources d\u2019\u00e9nergie renouvelable<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Sawyer consid\u00e8re que les PRM jouent un r\u00f4le important dans l\u2019\u00e9cologisation du r\u00e9seau \u00e9lectrique du Nouveau-Brunswick\u00a0: \u00ab\u00a0Je suis favorable \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9nergie \u00e9olienne et solaire, mais elle n\u2019est produite que 30\u00a0% du temps, et elle fluctue sans cesse. Nous pouvons cr\u00e9er un \u00e9quilibre.\u00a0\u00bb Il affirme \u00e9galement que les PRM rendent inutiles les sources d\u2019\u00e9nergie de r\u00e9serve co\u00fbteuses et parfois tr\u00e8s polluantes. Utilis\u00e9s dans d\u2019autres applications \u00e0 travers le Canada, ils servent notamment au d\u00e9veloppement progressif des r\u00e9seaux \u00e9lectriques, \u00e0 l\u2019alimentation de petites villes, ou sont utilis\u00e9s \u00e0 des fins industrielles comme dans la production d\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne.<\/p>\n<p>Et, d\u2019apr\u00e8s M.\u00a0Sawyer, la demande ne fera qu\u2019augmenter. \u00ab\u00a0Avec la prise de position du Canada en faveur de la lutte contre le changement climatique, notre technologie sans \u00e9mission \u00e9volue sur un march\u00e9 en pleine expansion. La Nouvelle-\u00c9cosse, par exemple, g\u00e9n\u00e8re environ 1\u00a0400\u00a0MW d\u2019\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 \u00e0 partir du charbon, mais un PRM serait pour elle l\u2019occasion de se d\u00e9barrasser enti\u00e8rement du charbon gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 des accords d\u2019achat avec le Nouveau-Brunswick.\u00a0\u00bb L\u2019entreprise est en pourparlers avec des march\u00e9s d\u2019exportation comme le Royaume-Uni, la Cor\u00e9e du Sud et le Japon.<\/p>\n<p>ARC\u00a0Canada proc\u00e8de actuellement \u00e0 un examen d\u00e9taill\u00e9 de ses plans et de ses co\u00fbts avec ses partenaires en vue de la prochaine phase de conception\u00a0: GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy, AECOM Canada Nuclear Operations, Inc. et Worley. \u00ab\u00a0Nous avons constitu\u00e9 une \u00e9quipe de calibre mondial et des discussions sont d\u00e9j\u00e0 en cours avec la CCSN au sujet de la prochaine phase\u00a0\u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 M.\u00a0Sawyer, avant d\u2019ajouter que l\u2019heure \u00e9tait venue de prendre des d\u00e9cisions cl\u00e9s. \u00ab\u00a0Nous travaillons avec \u00c9nergie\u00a0NB \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9laboration d\u2019un plan de lancement en 2028.
