OTTAWA (April 15, 2019)<\/strong> \u2013 The Canadian Nuclear Association<\/a> (CNA) is pleased to announce the appointment of John Gorman as President and Chief Executive Officer, effective May 13, 2019.<\/p>\n

Mr. Gorman is currently President & CEO of the Canadian Solar Industries Association<\/a> (CanSIA), the national trade association for Canada\u2019s solar energy industries. He oversees all of CanSIA\u2019s activities including government affairs, research, communications and industry leadership. Immediately prior to joining CanSIA, he was Senior Vice President of Empower Energies<\/a> \u2013 an innovative, global integrator of energy systems.<\/p>\n

\u201cFollowing an exhaustive search with a deep field of strong candidates, I\u2019m delighted to have someone with John\u2019s connection to the technologies and trends that are transforming electricity systems around the world,\u201d said Frank Saunders, Chair of the CNA and President of the Ontario Nuclear Innovation Institute<\/a>. \u201cJohn is the ideal champion of nuclear power as the enabler of a clean and modernized grid.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mr. Gorman serves as Canada\u2019s Designate to the International Energy Agency<\/a> (Executive Committee \u2013 PVPS). He has served as a director on the boards of numerous community and corporate organizations, including one of the nation\u2019s largest electric utilities.<\/p>\n

He has been recognized as one of Canada\u2019s CLEAN50<\/a> and is the recipient of the \u201c40 Under 40\u201d business award for excellence in business practices. He was awarded the designation of Climate Project Ambassador by Nobel Laureate Al Gore in 2008.<\/p>\n
