{"id":21219,"date":"2018-12-18T16:24:42","date_gmt":"2018-12-18T21:24:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cna.ca\/?post_type=news&#038;p=21219"},"modified":"2020-03-10T13:47:59","modified_gmt":"2020-03-10T17:47:59","slug":"nuclear-industry-congratulates-the-fedoruk-centre-for-receiving-new-federal-government-investment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cna.ca\/fr\/2018\/12\/18\/nuclear-industry-congratulates-the-fedoruk-centre-for-receiving-new-federal-government-investment\/","title":{"rendered":"NUCLEAR INDUSTRY CONGRATULATES THE FEDORUK CENTRE FOR RECEIVING NEW FEDERAL GOVERNMENT&nbsp;INVESTMENT"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>OTTAWA (December 18, 2018)<\/strong> \u2013 The Canadian Nuclear Association (CNA) today congratulates the Sylvia Fedoruk Canadian Centre for Nuclear Innovation for being awarded $2.2 million to renovate and equip the Innovation Wing of the Saskatchewan Centre for Cyclotron Sciences (SCCS) at the University of Saskatchewan.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe federal government\u2019s funding will go towards nuclear technologies that will help detect and treat diseases and improve crop productivity,\u201d said CNA President and CEO Dr. John Barrett. \u201cThis funding is recognition that nuclear technology has many applications that can improve the quality of life for people around the world while creating high-paying jobs here in Canada.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness Minister Ralph Goodale, on behalf of Western Economic Diversification Canada, announced the $2.2 million investment for the SCCS that is expected to create 50 jobs.<\/p>\n<p>The SCCS is a world-class scientific facility for innovation in nuclear imaging and treatment in living specimens, including plants, animals and humans.
