La teneur en soufre du p\u00e9trole devra ainsi passer de 3,5\u00a0% \u00e0 0,5\u00a0% au cours des deux prochaines ann\u00e9es. L\u2019OMI affirme que les nouvelles r\u00e8gles \u00ab\u00a0r\u00e9duiront consid\u00e9rablement la teneur en oxyde de soufre \u00e9mis par les navires et devraient avoir d\u2019importantes retomb\u00e9es pour la sant\u00e9 et l\u2019environnement, surtout chez les populations vivant pr\u00e8s des ports et des c\u00f4tes\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>Les techniques nucl\u00e9aires et isotopiques sont une source d\u2019information unique pour surveiller la pr\u00e9sence de contaminants dans les oc\u00e9ans, car elles permettent de rep\u00e9rer les contaminants nucl\u00e9aires et non nucl\u00e9aires, de suivre leur chemin dans l\u2019environnement et d\u2019\u00e9tudier leurs effets biologiques.<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019Agence internationale de l\u2019\u00e9nergie atomique (AIEA) travaille depuis des dizaines d\u2019ann\u00e9es dans ce domaine avec diff\u00e9rentes organisations environnementales de l\u2019ONU.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0Pour accompagner les \u00c9tats membres dans la lutte contre la pollution c\u00f4ti\u00e8re et marine, l\u2019AIEA a con\u00e7u des outils et m\u00e9thodes scientifiques aidant les d\u00e9cideurs \u00e0 prot\u00e9ger le milieu marin, explique <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iaea.org\/topics\/coastal-and-marine\">l\u2019AIEA<\/a>. L\u2019Agence exploite des Laboratoires de l\u2019environnement \u00e0 Monaco et \u00e0 Seibersdorf, en Autriche, o\u00f9 des techniques nucl\u00e9aires et isotopiques sont mises \u00e0 profit pour \u00e9tudier les processus de pollution et suivre l\u2019empreinte des polluants.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019ann\u00e9e derni\u00e8re, les Laboratoires de l\u2019environnement de l\u2019AIEA \u00e0 Monaco ont offert des <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iaea.org\/newscenter\/news\/iaea-and-un-environment-partnership-over-40-years-of-collaboration-to-improve-monitoring-of-marine-pollution\">formations<\/a> pour les scientifiques sur les techniques de mesure et de surveillance des polluants en milieu marin.<\/p>\n<p>Depuis le d\u00e9but de sa collaboration avec ONU Environnement, en 1986, l\u2019AIEA a organis\u00e9 conjointement avec cette organisation 56 formations et 34 tests de comp\u00e9tence avec des repr\u00e9sentants de pays m\u00e9diterran\u00e9ens, afin de renforcer la surveillance de la pollution. De plus, 57\u00a0m\u00e9thodes recommand\u00e9es pour l\u2019analyse d\u2019\u00e9l\u00e9ments traces et de polluants organiques dans des \u00e9chantillons marins ont \u00e9t\u00e9 mises au point en partenariat avec ONU Environnement et la Commission oc\u00e9anographique intergouvernementale de l\u2019UNESCO (COI-UNESCO).<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0Au cours des 40 derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es, l\u2019AIEA a effectu\u00e9 en partenariat 33 missions \u00e9largies d\u2019assurance de la qualit\u00e9 pour v\u00e9rifier et am\u00e9liorer la qualit\u00e9 des analyses de contaminants et 93 missions d\u2019entretien d\u2019instruments, et par ailleurs install\u00e9 de nouveaux instruments d\u2019analyse de contaminants dans des laboratoires m\u00e9diterran\u00e9ens\u00a0\u00bb, explique l\u2019AIEA.<\/p>\n<p>Comme l\u2019a conclu une <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iaea.org\/About\/Policy\/GC\/GC54\/GC54InfDocuments\/English\/gc54inf-3-att3_en.pdf\">\u00e9tude d\u2019orientation de l\u2019AIEA<\/a>, \u00ab\u00a0la plupart des probl\u00e8mes majeurs de pollution en milieu marin ne peuvent \u00eatre \u00e9tudi\u00e9s qu\u2019au moyen de techniques nucl\u00e9aires et isotopiques, lesquelles fournissent les donn\u00e9es diagnostiques et dynamiques n\u00e9cessaires pour d\u00e9terminer la source de contamination, l\u2019historique de son accumulation, ses voies de p\u00e9n\u00e9tration dans l\u2019environnement et son impact environnemental.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>L&#8217;organisation maritime internationale (OMI)\u00a0a r\u00e9cemment impos\u00e9 de nouvelles r\u00e8gles pour limiter d\u2019ici 2020 la teneur en soufre des combustibles utilis\u00e9s par les navires.
