Ce communiqu\u00e9 transmis par l\u2019<a href=\"https:\/\/www.iaea.org\/newscenter\/news\/chinas-first-wastewater-plant-using-radiation-opens\">Agence internationale de l\u2019\u00e9nergie atomique<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iaea.org\/newscenter\/news\/chinas-first-wastewater-plant-using-radiation-opens\">(AIEA)<\/a> souligne l\u2019importance de la science nucl\u00e9aire pour r\u00e9pondre aux pr\u00e9occupations mondiales en mati\u00e8re d\u2019eau.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0Malgr\u00e9 les progr\u00e8s r\u00e9alis\u00e9s par les technologies conventionnelles de traitement des eaux us\u00e9es ces derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es, l\u2019irradiation demeure la seule technologie capable de traiter les colorants les plus r\u00e9sistants pr\u00e9sents dans les eaux us\u00e9es\u00a0\u00bb, affirme Sunil Sabharwal, sp\u00e9cialiste en traitement par irradiation au sein de l\u2019AIEA.<\/p>\n<p>Les composants utilis\u00e9s dans les teintures textiles contiennent des mol\u00e9cules complexes, ce qui emp\u00eache les bact\u00e9ries habituellement employ\u00e9es dans le traitement des eaux us\u00e9es de d\u00e9composer les substances chimiques et d\u2019assainir l\u2019eau \u00e0 des fins de r\u00e9utilisation industrielle. Ce qui est impossible pour les bact\u00e9ries ne l\u2019est pas pour la technologie nucl\u00e9aire. Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 un faisceau d\u2019\u00e9lectrons, ces liaisons chimiques complexes sont bris\u00e9es et \u00e9limin\u00e9es de l\u2019eau, laquelle peut alors \u00eatre r\u00e9utilis\u00e9e.<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019investissement des Chinois dans la premi\u00e8re usine de traitement des eaux us\u00e9es par faisceau d\u2019\u00e9lectrons constitue un grand pas en avant. Par le biais de son agence pour l\u2019eau et de la <a href=\"http:\/\/www.worldwaterday.org\/\">Journ\u00e9e mondiale de l\u2019eau<\/a>, l\u2019<a href=\"http:\/\/www.unwater.org\/\">ONU<\/a> a sensibilis\u00e9 le public \u00e0 l\u2019importance des ressources en eau plan\u00e9taires et aux incidences que la p\u00e9nurie d\u2019eau et les catastrophes li\u00e9es \u00e0 l\u2019eau ont sur les \u00eatres humains.<\/p>\n<p>Depuis 2003, l\u2019organisation se concentre sur les probl\u00e8mes associ\u00e9s \u00e0 l\u2019eau. \u00ab\u00a0L\u2019eau est au c\u0153ur du d\u00e9veloppement durable. Les ressources en eau et les divers services qu\u2019elles procurent favorisent la r\u00e9duction de la pauvret\u00e9, la croissance \u00e9conomique et la durabilit\u00e9 de l\u2019environnement. De la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 alimentaire et \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique \u00e0 la sant\u00e9 humaine et environnementale, l\u2019eau contribue \u00e0 am\u00e9liorer le bien-\u00eatre social et la croissance inclusive; elle affecte les moyens de subsistance de milliards de personnes.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n<p>Selon les <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chinadialogue.net\/article\/show\/single\/en\/6283-The-denim-capital-of-the-world-so-polluted-you-can-t-give-the-houses-away\">articles<\/a> de journalistes chinois, l\u2019industrie de la teinture des v\u00eatements a un impact alarmant sur la sant\u00e9 des r\u00e9sidents \u00e0 proximit\u00e9 des usines. \u00c0 Xintang, capitale mondiale du denim, la pollution du fleuve Dong a \u00e9galement contamin\u00e9 les sols avoisinants, et l\u2019on craint que les courants d\u00e9versent cette pollution dans d\u2019autres cours d\u2019eau.<\/p>\n<p>M\u00eame si cette nouvelle usine de traitement des eaux us\u00e9es ne r\u00e9soudra pas compl\u00e8tement le probl\u00e8me la Chine, elle aidera le pays \u00e0 surmonter certaines de ses difficult\u00e9s li\u00e9es \u00e0 l\u2019eau. La nouvelle installation traitera 1\u00a0500\u00a0m\u00e8tres cubes d\u2019eaux us\u00e9es par jour, soit presque l\u2019\u00e9quivalent d\u2019une piscine olympique. En cas de succ\u00e8s, cela pourrait ouvrir la voie \u00e0 d\u2019autres possibilit\u00e9s en mati\u00e8re d\u2019assainissement des r\u00e9serves d\u2019eau chinoises.
