{"id":15282,"date":"2016-12-19T14:48:11","date_gmt":"2016-12-19T19:48:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cna.ca\/?post_type=news&#038;p=15282\/"},"modified":"2020-03-10T13:55:03","modified_gmt":"2020-03-10T17:55:03","slug":"cna-congratulates-canadian-nuclear-power-industry-excellent-safety-performance-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cna.ca\/fr\/2016\/12\/19\/cna-congratulates-canadian-nuclear-power-industry-excellent-safety-performance-2\/","title":{"rendered":"CNA Congratulates Canadian Nuclear Power Industry on Excellent Safety&nbsp;Performance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>OTTAWA (December 19, 2016)<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cna.ca\/\">Canadian Nuclear Association<\/a>\u00a0(CNA) congratulates <a href=\"http:\/\/www.brucepower.com\/\">Bruce Power<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.opg.com\/Pages\/home.aspx\">Ontario Power Generation<\/a> (OPG) and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbpower.com\/Welcome.aspx?lang=en\">NB Power<\/a> on an excellent overall safety performance during 2015, as evaluated in an annual report by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nuclearsafety.gc.ca\/eng\/\">Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission<\/a> (CNSC).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe CNSC report reinforces the Canadian nuclear industry\u2019s strong commitment to safety above all else,\u201d said Dr. John Barrett, CNA President and CEO. \u201cThe rigorous and continuous oversight by the CNSC, Canada\u2019s nuclear watchdog, is how we know that people and the environment are always protected.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nuclearsafety.gc.ca\/pubs_catalogue\/uploads\/2015-NPP-Report-eng.pdf\"><em>Regulatory Oversight Report for Canadian Nuclear Power Plants:<\/em> <em>2015<\/em><\/a> report provides the CNSC\u2019s assessment of the Canadian nuclear power industry\u2019s safety performance and details the progress of regulatory issues and initiatives.<\/p>\n<p>Through site inspections, reviews and assessments, the report shows that the plants all operated safely in 2015.
