OTTAWA (22 septembre 2016)<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 L’Association nucl\u00e9aire canadienne<\/a>\u00a0(ANC) f\u00e9licite\u00a0SNC-Lavalin<\/a>\u00a0pour la signature d’une entente de principe pour une nouvelle coentreprise avec China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) et Shanghai Electric Group Company Ltd. La nouvelle soci\u00e9t\u00e9 aurait pour vocation d’\u00e9laborer, de commercialiser et de construire des projets en rapport avec le\u00a0r\u00e9acteur CANDU<\/a>\u00a0(AFCR), en Chine et \u00e0 l’international.<\/p>\n

\u00ab\u00a0Cette entente repr\u00e9sente une formidable occasion d’amener la technologie canadienne CANDU en Chine et dans d’autres r\u00e9gions du monde\u00a0\u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 le Dr John Barrett, pr\u00e9sident et chef de la direction de l’ANC. \u00ab\u00a0Ces projets peuvent g\u00e9n\u00e9rer des milliards de dollars, aussi bien pour l’\u00e9conomie canadienne que pour l’\u00e9conomie chinoise, tout en permettant de r\u00e9duire consid\u00e9rablement les \u00e9missions de GES.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n

La nouvelle soci\u00e9t\u00e9, qui devrait \u00eatre constitu\u00e9e au milieu de l’ann\u00e9e 2017, disposera de deux centres de conception \u2013 l’un au Canada et l’autre en Chine. \u00a0Cette initiative pourrait mener \u00e0 la construction, en Chine, des deux premiers AFCR\u2122 du monde, et \u00e9ventuellement \u00e0 la construction subs\u00e9quente d\u2019autres r\u00e9acteurs en Chine et dans d’autres pays.<\/p>\n

\u00ab\u00a0Chaque nouveau r\u00e9acteur CANDU en Chine, ou ailleurs dans le monde, aura des retomb\u00e9es b\u00e9n\u00e9fiques au Canada au niveau de la cr\u00e9ation d\u2019emplois, de la croissance, de l’investissement et de la redynamisation du secteur nucl\u00e9aire\u00a0\u00bb, a tenu \u00e0 ajouter le Dr Barrett.<\/p>\n

La technologie AFCR offre de nombreux avantages, notamment la possibilit\u00e9 d’utiliser de l’uranium recycl\u00e9 comme combustible, ce qui r\u00e9duit la quantit\u00e9 de combustible us\u00e9 stock\u00e9 \u00e0 long terme et all\u00e8ge donc encore l’impact environnemental d\u00e9j\u00e0 minime de l’\u00e9nergie nucl\u00e9aire. Un r\u00e9acteur AFCR peut \u00eatre aliment\u00e9 avec l’uranium recycl\u00e9 de 4 r\u00e9acteurs \u00e0 eau l\u00e9g\u00e8re, sans aucun ajout de combustible. La Chine exploite 33 r\u00e9acteurs \u00e0 eau l\u00e9g\u00e8re et 23 autres sont en cours de construction.<\/p>\n

Cette entente de principe fait suite \u00e0 la\u00a0signature d’un accord-cadre en 2014<\/a>, et reste assujettie \u00e0 toutes les approbations gouvernementales et r\u00e9glementaires.<\/p>\n
