OTTAWA (August 19, 2016) <\/strong>\u2013\u00a0<\/strong>The Canadian Nuclear Association<\/a> (CNA) congratulates CNA members BWXT Canada Ltd. (BWXT Canada) and GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy Canada Inc. (GEH-C) on yesterday\u2019s announcement.<\/p>\n

GE and Hitachi Alliance announced that they have entered into a definitive agreement for the sale of GEH-C to BWXT Canada, a subsidiary of BWX Technologies Inc. (BWXT). The transaction, which is subject to required Canadian regulatory reviews and other closing conditions, is expected to close by the end of 2016.<\/p>\n

This agreement will bring together the extensive knowledge and expertise of two firms committed to delivering high quality products and services to the nuclear industry in Canada and abroad.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese two organizations have extensive experience in innovation and leadership within the nuclear industry,\u201d said CNA president and CEO Dr. John Barrett. \u201cI look forward to future successes for Canada\u2019s nuclear sector and international opportunities abroad.\u201d<\/p>\n

GEH-C has more than 60 years of extensive experience and innovation in the supply of nuclear fuel and fuel channel components, services, equipment and parts for the CANDU\u00ae nuclear power industry. GEH-C employs approximately 350 people at three locations in Ontario: Peterborough, Toronto and Arnprior.<\/p>\n

BWXT Canada designs, manufactures, commissions and services nuclear power generation equipment for the global nuclear power industry. \u00a0BWXT Canada is headquartered in Cambridge, Ontario.<\/p>\n
