Source : Andy Sproles \u00e0 l\u2019ORNL.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>En fait, selon un article dans <a href=\"http:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/jamesconca\/2016\/03\/24\/is-nuclear-power-a-renewable-or-a-sustainable-energy-source\/#398d9a0813c8\">Forbes Magazine par James Conca<\/a>,\u00a0un scientifique dans le domaine des sciences environnementales et de la terre, \u00ab\u00a0il est impossible pour les humains d\u2019extraire assez d\u2019uranium pour diminuer les concentrations globales de l\u2019eau de mer plus rapidement qu\u2019elle ne se renouvellent\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>Bien que la concentration d\u2019uranium dans l\u2019eau de mer soit seulement trois milligrammes par m\u00e8tre cube, le volume total de l\u2019oc\u00e9an est environ 1,37 milliard de kilom\u00e8tres cubes, ce qui signifie qu\u2019il y a environ 4,5 milliards de tonnes d\u2019uranium dans l\u2019eau de mer \u00e0 un moment donn\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>Pr\u00e9sentement, il a un volume consid\u00e9rable de recherches effectu\u00e9es afin d\u2019extraire l\u2019uranium de l\u2019eau de mer, notamment au Japon, en Chine et aux \u00c9tats-Unis. Les technologies les plus r\u00e9centes, d\u00e9velopp\u00e9s par les laboratoires Pacific Northwest (PNNL) et Oak Ridge National (ONRL) du minist\u00e8re am\u00e9ricain de l\u2019\u00c9nergie (DOE), utilisent des fibres de poly\u00e9thyl\u00e8ne recouvert d\u2019amidoxime pour attirer et retenir le dioxyde d\u2019uranium de l\u2019eau de mer. Ces fibres en tresses sont environ quinze centim\u00e8tres en diam\u00e8tre et peuvent mesurer jusqu\u2019\u00e0 plusieurs m\u00e8tres en fonction d\u2019o\u00f9 elles sont install\u00e9es.<\/p>\n<p>Apr\u00e8s un mois, les fibres sont amen\u00e9es \u00e0 la surface o\u00f9 elles subissent un traitement \u00e0 l\u2019acide pour r\u00e9cup\u00e9rer l\u2019uranium et r\u00e9g\u00e9n\u00e9rer les fibres pour qu\u2019elles puissent \u00eatre r\u00e9utilis\u00e9es.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0Trouver d\u2019autres possibilit\u00e9s pour l\u2019exploitation mini\u00e8re de minerais d\u2019uranium est n\u00e9cessaire afin d\u2019assurer le futur de l\u2019\u00e9nergie nucl\u00e9aire\u00a0\u00bb, explique Stephen Kung au Bureau d\u2019\u00e9nergie nucl\u00e9aire du DOE \u00e0 Forbes Magazine. Cependant, rendre ce processus rentable est tout aussi important.<\/p>\n<p>Les progr\u00e8s r\u00e9alis\u00e9s par PNNL et ORNL ont r\u00e9duit le co\u00fbt de l\u2019extraction par quatre en seulement 5 ans, mais le co\u00fbt est toujours environ 200\u00a0$ par livre tandis que l\u2019exploitation traditionnelle varie entre 10\u00a0$ et 120\u00a0$ par livre.<\/p>\n<p>Heureusement, le co\u00fbt de l\u2019uranium n\u2019est qu\u2019un petit pourcentage du co\u00fbt de l\u2019\u00e9nergie nucl\u00e9aire. Donc, m\u00eame \u00e0 200\u00a0$ par livre le co\u00fbt de l\u2019\u00e9nergie nucl\u00e9aire n\u2019augmenterait pas consid\u00e9rablement.<\/p>\n<p>Les chercheurs essayent toujours de trouver des fa\u00e7ons plus efficaces et plus \u00e9conomiques d\u2019extraire de l\u2019uranium de l\u2019eau de mer parce que les ressources en uranium y sont r\u00e9ellement illimit\u00e9es.
