OTTAWA<\/strong> (July 22, 2015)<\/strong> \u2013 The Canadian Nuclear Association (CNA)<\/a> congratulates Jeffrey Lyash on his appointment as the President and CEO of Ontario Power Generation (OPG)<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Mr. Lyash brings over 30 years\u2019 experience working in both the public and private sectors.<\/p>\n

Mr. Lyash was most recently the President of Power for Chicago Bridge & Iron Company (CB&I)<\/a> and previously was the Executive Vice President of Energy Supply with Duke Supply. His global background in the power business includes fossil fuels, renewable generation and nuclear. Mr. Lyash also served as a Senior Resident Inspector for the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission.<\/p>\n

“Mr. Lyash\u2019s nuclear experience will help to ensure that nuclear energy remains a key component of the province\u2019s long-term energy strategy,” said CNA President and CEO John Barrett. “We look forward to supporting him, and OPG, in the successful refurbishment of OPG\u2019s reactors at the Darlington Nuclear Generating Station.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lyash replaces Tom Mitchell, who served as OPG president for more than six years and helped to guide the nuclear industry as Vice Chairman of the CNA.<\/p>\n

\u201cUnder Tom Mitchell\u2019s leadership, OPG became a clean-energy utility,\u201d said Dr. Barrett. \u201cHe can say with pride that 99.3 per cent of OPG\u2019s power generation emits zero greenhouse gases, thanks to the elimination of coal-fired generation in Ontario, and its steady, reliable foundation of nuclear energy, hydro power and biomass.\u201d<\/p>\n
