Un monde o\u00f9 la combustion des combustibles fossiles ne sera plus qu\u2019un lointain souvenir d\u2019une \u00e8re r\u00e9volue, longtemps avant que les avanc\u00e9es sur le front des sources d\u2019\u00e9nergie de remplacement pour les transports soient d\u00e9velopp\u00e9es et commercialement viables.<\/p>\n<p>La science d\u2019avant-garde \u00e0 la base de l\u2019utilisation de l\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne comme source d\u2019\u00e9nergie pour assurer l\u2019alimentation en \u00e9lectricit\u00e9 dans notre vie quotidienne est une perspective qui a captiv\u00e9 l\u2019imagination des chercheurs des <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnl.ca\/fr\/home\/default.aspx\">Laboratoires nucl\u00e9aires canadiens<\/a> (LNC) et incit\u00e9 leurs dirigeants \u00e0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedailyobserver.ca\/2015\/01\/08\/cnl-commissions-55-million-lab\">ouvrir un nouveau laboratoire<\/a> sur le m\u00eame site, \u00e0 Chalk River, en Ontario.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-10698 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/cna.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/CNL_003-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"Laboratoire d\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne aux Laboratoires nucl\u00e9aires canadiens (LNC)\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cna.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/CNL_003-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/cna.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/CNL_003.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>L\u2019avantage des LNC dans l\u2019exploration des futures applications de l\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne vient de leur soixantaine d\u2019ann\u00e9es d\u2019exp\u00e9rience de l\u2019utilisation d\u2019isotopes de l\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne, comme le deut\u00e9rium et le tritium. (Le deut\u00e9rium est l\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne lourd pr\u00e9sent dans l\u2019eau utilis\u00e9e pour refroidir l\u2019uranium dans les r\u00e9acteurs nucl\u00e9aires CANDU. Il est tout \u00e0 fait semblable \u00e0 l\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne ordinaire qui se combine \u00e0 l\u2019oxyg\u00e8ne pour former l\u2019eau, sauf qu\u2019il a un neutron\u00a0\u2013 c\u2019est ce poids suppl\u00e9mentaire qui rend l\u2019eau \u00ab\u00a0lourde\u00a0\u00bb. Le tritium radioactif quant \u00e0 lui poss\u00e8de deux\u00a0neutrons.)<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-10695 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/cna.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/CNL-Hydrogen-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"Laboratoire d\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne aux Laboratoires nucl\u00e9aires canadiens (LNC)\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cna.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/CNL-Hydrogen-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/cna.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/CNL-Hydrogen.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Les LNC tirent maintenant parti de leur <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnl.ca\/fr\/home\/centres-of-excellence\/hydrogen.aspx\">vaste exp\u00e9rience<\/a> pour explorer la production d\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne \u00e0 grande \u00e9chelle au moyen d\u2019une technologie pouvant \u00eatre int\u00e9gr\u00e9e \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9nergie nucl\u00e9aire. Pour l\u2019essentiel, cette technologie utiliserait le surplus d\u2019\u00e9lectricit\u00e9\u00a0\u2013 d\u2019origine nucl\u00e9aire ou renouvelable\u00a0\u2013 comme \u00e9nergie propre n\u00e9cessaire afin de produire cette ressource.<\/p>\n<p>O\u00f9 cela pourrait-il nous mener? Peut-\u00eatre \u00e0 l\u2019<a href=\"http:\/\/fr.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/%C3%89conomie_hydrog%C3%A8ne\">\u00e9conomie de l\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne<\/a>. En effet, l\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne est une source d\u2019\u00e9nergie \u00e0 faible teneur en carbone qui pourrait un jour <a href=\"http:\/\/www.world-nuclear.org\/info\/Non-Power-Nuclear-Applications\/Transport\/Transport-and-the-Hydrogen-Economy\/\">remplacer l\u2019essence pour les transports<\/a> ou le gaz naturel pour le chauffage. Il est attrayant, car le seul sous-produit de son utilisation est l\u2019eau\u00a0\u2013 l\u2019eau ordinaire. Et on obtient \u00e0 la cl\u00e9 pas la moindre \u00e9mission nocive pour l\u2019environnement.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-10699 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/cna.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/CNL_001-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"Laboratoire d\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne aux Laboratoires nucl\u00e9aires canadiens (LNC)\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cna.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/CNL_001-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/cna.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/CNL_001.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>En janvier\u00a02015, lors de l\u2019inauguration du laboratoire de 55\u00a0millions de dollars de son entreprise, le pr\u00e9sident et chef de la direction des LNC, Robert\u00a0Walker, a affirm\u00e9\u00a0: \u00ab\u00a0Ce nouveau laboratoire permettra de faire de la recherche de pointe afin que les Canadiens disposent d\u2019un environnement propre et sain gr\u00e2ce au d\u00e9veloppement et \u00e0 l\u2019utilisation de technologies \u00e9nerg\u00e9tiques propres.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0Les travaux qui seront r\u00e9alis\u00e9s entre ces murs prennent appui sur la position de chef de file mondial des LNC dans le domaine des technologies de l\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne. Ils nous permettront de mettre au point des solutions offrant s\u00fbret\u00e9 et s\u00e9curit\u00e9 pour r\u00e9pondre aux besoins \u00e9nerg\u00e9tiques du Canada dans l\u2019avenir. Chaque pi\u00e8ce d\u2019\u00e9quipement permet d\u2019avoir recours \u00e0 un proc\u00e9d\u00e9 exp\u00e9rimental pour mesurer le rendement d\u2019une transformation chimique ou physique \u00e0 laquelle participe l\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne.
