Aujourd\u2019hui, presque tout l\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne provient de combustibles fossiles, ce qui signifie qu\u2019il produit beaucoup de dioxyde de carbone, un gaz \u00e0 effet de serre. Les principaux moyens de \u00ab&nbsp;craquage&nbsp;\u00bb de l\u2019eau visant \u00e0 produire de l\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne consomment trop d\u2019\u00e9nergie pour \u00eatre pratiques sans une source propre et abordable d\u2019\u00e9nergie de qualit\u00e9 comme l\u2019\u00e9nergie nucl\u00e9aire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Une autre difficult\u00e9 concerne le stockage de l\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne. \u00c9tant la plus petite mol\u00e9cule, l\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne peut fuir \u00e0 travers la plupart des substances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Les technologies nucl\u00e9aires font de l\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne gazeux un combustible plus pratique pour un syst\u00e8me \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique sans carbone. Les centrales nucl\u00e9aires produisent l\u2019\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 n\u00e9cessaire au craquage de l\u2019eau et \u00e0 la production d\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne, sans provoquer des \u00e9missions nocives provenant de la combustion des combustibles fossiles. Les r\u00e9acteurs nucl\u00e9aires de nouvelle g\u00e9n\u00e9ration pourraient craquer de l\u2019eau directement, ce qui pourrait r\u00e9volutionner l\u2019\u00e9conomie de la production de l\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne gazeux.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Forts de six d\u00e9cennies d\u2019exp\u00e9rience dans la manipulation de l\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnl.ca\/fr\/home\/commercial\/hydrogen-energy-storage-technologies.aspx\">Les Laboratoires Nucl\u00e9aires Canadiens<\/a> (LNC) ont lanc\u00e9 en 2015 un laboratoire de technologie des isotopes de l\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne afin de rechercher des m\u00e9thodes pour rendre la production d\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne propre plus pratique et moins co\u00fbteuse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Les d\u00e9veloppements r\u00e9cents dans le domaine des <a href=\"https:\/\/cna.ca\/fr\/reacteurs-et-prm\/petits-reacteurs-modulaires\/\" class=\"rank-math-link\">petits r\u00e9acteurs modulaires<\/a> (PRM) peuvent \u00e9galement aider \u00e0 surmonter le probl\u00e8me du stockage de l\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne. Plut\u00f4t que de transporter l\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne sur de longues distances, les producteurs pourraient produire de l\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne dans toute collectivit\u00e9 suffisamment grande pour accueillir un PRM, ce qui r\u00e9duirait les co\u00fbts de transportation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La production \u00e9conomique d\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne ouvrirait une nouvelle \u00e8re de v\u00e9hicules fonctionnant \u00e0 l\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne, qui ne produirait pas plus d\u2019\u00e9missions que la marche ou le v\u00e9lo. Mais l\u2019\u00e9nergie nucl\u00e9aire fait d\u00e9j\u00e0 la diff\u00e9rence dans les \u00e9missions li\u00e9es aux transports.
