Jan Lai

Jan holds a Master of Environmental Studies in Environmental Data Analytics from the joint program at Wilfrid Laurier University and the University of Waterloo, a Master of Philosophy in Government and Public Administration from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and a Bachelor of Laws from Peking University. Prior to immigrating to Canada, she served as Executive Officer (Development) in the Hong Kong SAR Government, where she gained extensive experience in policymaking, stakeholder engagement, and project management.

In her current role with the Four County Labour Market Planning Board (FCLMPB), she leads the design and implementation of research projects aimed at identifying key labour market trends, addressing workforce development gaps, and uncovering economic opportunities across the region. In 2024–2025, Jan conducted FCLMPB’s The Clean Energy Impacts project, which examined workforce shortages, labour market challenges, and industry best practices associated with planned energy developments in Stratford-Bruce Region.
